Race to the MVP
All-Star Break
*This is based off of personal opinion, not how I think FBB will hand it out. Stats, team record, and importance to team are all considered.
1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - Chicago Bulls
31.5 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 2.9 APG, 0.9 SPG, 3.6 BPG, 1.4 TPG 47.5%FG, 75.1%FT
Abdul-Jabbar is THE reason the Bulls are 5th seed in the East right now. Without him, they'd be a lotto team. Abdul-Jabbar isn't the most statistically impressive candidate (Though his stats are outstanding) but when weighing in importance and team performance, it is easy to make a case for him at #1. Through the first half of the season, he has been an offensive and defensive force, while also keeping mistakes low. I'm sure play would love for Abdul-Jabbar to get his FG% up closer to the 50% mark, but other than that, there aren't many downsides to his game.
2. Dave DeBusschere - Milwaukee Bucks
32.4 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 2.1 TPG 53.3%FG, 92.8%FT
Not necessarily a breakout season since he had a great season last year too, but DeBusschere has definitely stepped up his game. He has been tearing it up offensively and is a huge factor in building up that point differential for Milwaukee while the defensive anchors hold the other team back. Shooting a ridiculous 53.3% from the field, DeBusschere is arguably the best scorer in the league right now, considering he takes 3 shots less than the usual suspects, Jones and Walker. It's sad that DeBusschere probably wouldn't win the MVP in FBB, because he definitely deserves a good shot at it.
3. Horace Walker - Houston Rockets
25.4 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.4 SPG, 4.8 BPG, 1.3 TPG 44.6%FG, 90.5%FT
Ho Walker is one of the best defenders in the league, if not the best, and is the main reason for the Rockets success. A guy that scores 25+, pulls down 11 rebounds, and then has combined defensive stats of over 6 makes winning games pretty easy I'd say. His FG% has been on a downward trend these last few seasons, but that's really his only concern. Walker is always amongst the top spots for Defensive Player of the Year/Defensive Teams but he should definitely receive some MVP love as well.
4. Bingo Smith - Orlando Magic
27.0 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.5 SPG, 4.3 BPG, 1.2 TPG, 48.3%FG, 87.1%FT, 47.3%3P
The younger, more efficient Walker, Bingo Smith has been killing it this season. His offense just keeps improving, and his already scary defensive prowess has taken a step forward as well. The #1 franchise guy in the league, in my opinion, Smith is going to be a BBS legend. Bingo and the Glock are leading the Magic to a top spot in the East and quite possibly to another Finals appearance. It's scary to think about how good Bingo is going to be for years to come.
5. Walt Hazzard - Golden State Warriors
28.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 10.7 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 1.9 TPG, 48.0%FG, 88.0%FT, 43.3%3P
Quietly one of the best PGs in the league, Hazzard is pretty much entirely responsible for the Warriors' relevance, though JoJo stepping it up has been a big boost. Hazzard is one of those guys FBB loves, so chances are he could be the actual front runner for MVP if he stays healthy. He's efficient, a great defender, and a great shooter. Pretty much exactly what you want out of a PG, and he does it on an elite level.
6. Wilt Chamberlain - Milwaukee Bucks
22.0 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.0 SPG, 4.3 BPG, 1.7 TPG, 52.8%FG, 81.0%FT
The main reason the Bucks have the best record in the league? They have two MVP-caliber players leading them to a sick point differential which of course translates into an excellent regular season record. Wilt is one of the best to play the game, and he's still kicking it at 35 (65 in greeme years). His rebounding has dropped a bit from his younger days, but he's actually having his best defensive stat season to date. I'm confident Wilt could even carry the offensive load if the Bucks didn't have Dirty Dave handling that side. With the greatest offensive threat, and arguable the best defensive threat, the Bucks are scary good, until FBB kicks in an offensive PG tears them up in the playoffs.
7. Jerry West - Charlotte Bobcats
28.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 10.0 APG, 2.1 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 2.3 TPG, 49.8%FG, 95.6%FT, 42.6%3P
If he didn't miss a bunch of games, he'd probably win the MVP from FBB this season again, but I think someone else will take it just because of the injury. The Logo is still amazing. Scores at great percentages, efficient PG stats, and great defense. He's a four-time MVP for a reason. I'm actually surprised the Bobcats are down so low in the standings, but the East is ridiculous. I guarantee no one wants any part of Charlotte in the playoffs though. Still like their chances in the postseason.
8. Zelmo Beaty - Toronto Raptors
23.8 PPG, 12.7 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.6 SPG, 4.1 BPG, 1.1 TPG, 46.3%FG, 85.2%FT
Beaty is quietly having an amazing like he always does. Unsurprisingly and like many of his teammates, he's been a Raptor his entire career and is having a career year defensively and rebounding the ball. The Raptors are 4th in the East, which I'm sure makes broph happy. It's always fun when guys like dj are winning. If you do a search on his last 100 posts, it goes back to Feb 16th. Funny stuff. Regardless, what he does works for him, and having a player like Beaty sure makes it easier. Another side note, I drive by Prairie View A&M often.
9. Chet Walker - Los Angeles Clippers
34.6 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 1.2 TPG, 49.3%FG, 83.8%FT, 46.8%3P
Really not sure what's going on with marty and the Clippers. Walker is a stud scorer like usual, but he's down on the list due to the mediocre performance by his team in the weak West. His stats are superb, and surely the Clippers would be lotto without him. Really not much more to say here.
10. Norm Van Lier - Atlanta Hawks
18.5 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 11.0 APG, 2.2 SPG, 2.1 TPG, 51.0%FG, 93.5%FT, 51.5%3P
If his point production was higher, Norm would win the MVP. When you have the Dickmaster on your team, though, points can be harder to come by. However, Norm is shooting absolutely sick percentages, gets about 7 rebounds a game, almost leads the league in assists, and gets over 2 steals a game. Dude is an absolute stud, and my second favorite player on this list (Behind Bingo). It's nice to have DVA and Pistol Pete, but Van Lier is the main man in Atlanta.

Willis Reed - 23.0 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 3.5 BPG, 1.3 TPG, 51.2%FG, 81.5%FT
