This article is an accumulation of every current Eastern Conference GM's all-time win/loss record and winning percentage from the start of BBS through 2040.
I will provide analysis for each GM's performances (I hope that some of you have thick skin)
After both conferences are posted, I will do a full analysis ranking GMs from 1-29 in terms of win percentage, championships and overall.
DBW – Celtics, Timberwolves
All-Time Record: 1845-1517
All-Time Win Percentage: .549
Championships: 2
Analysis: DBW is one of the winningest GMs in the history of the league, but a championship continues to elude him as the Celtics GM.
He builds incredible cores with multiple superstars and has done a great job in this league.
He is due more respect than he garners.
GM Grade: A
Germs - Heat
All-Time Record: 21-61
All-Time Win Percentage: .256
Championships: 0
Analysis: Has had one season that was clearly a rebuilding season.
GM Grade: N/A
Nanz – Nets, Nuggets, Lakers
All-Time Record: 1858-1750
All-Time Win Percentage: .515
Championships: 2
Analysis: There's a reason why I traded Nanz back his picks. He's a really good GM who would make my life miserable if I didn't.
He is almost always able to get his team to where he wants it to be.
Nanz's biggest problem, which he has started to remedy, is that he often holds onto his core for too long when they're close to contention, but not true contenders.
An upper-echelon GM.
GM Grade: A
Skillz – Knicks
All-Time Record: 2400-1782
All-Time Win Percentage: .574
Championships: 2
Analysis: For years, Skillz was considered a regular season warrior who couldn't get over the hump.
Those days are over.
Skillz is elite.
GM Grade: A
Repole – Magic
All-Time Record: 842-716
All-Time Win Percentage: .540
Championships: 2
Analysis: Repole is one of the smartest GMs when it comes to developing a winning system.
He believes in his research and executes it flawlessly by getting players that fit what he's looking to do.
Nobody in their right mind would give Willie Davis a max contract, but he does so willingly, knowing that he'll give his team the desired results.
Repole is the thinking man's GM and is just a little bit behind Skillz.
GM Grade: A
Blue – Nets, 76ers
All-Time Record: 1348-1112
All-Time Win Percentage: .548
Championships: 0
Analysis: Blue fits into the category with DBW. He builds winning teams, but ones that fail to get over the hump.
He is often overlooked among the top GMs, but his winning percentage is surprisingly high.
An above average GM.
GM Grade: B
HeatFlash – Heat x3, Bobcats, Wizards
All-Time Record: 985-1393
All-Time Win Percentage: .414
Championships: 0
Analysis: Simply put, HeatFlash is one of the worst GMs of the bunch. He has been around for a long time and has done little of significance.
He often acquires and drafts great players, but proceeds to do nothing with then.
GM Grade: D
Jay - Hawks
All-Time Record: 108-138
All-Time Win Percentage: .439
Championships: 0
Analysis: Jay is back and up to his old antics.
Posting pictures, music videos and having fun.
This record is not indicative of a) how good of a GM he is and b) how much talent he has built up since coming back to BBS
GM Grade: C+
UKFanJohn - Bobcats
All-Time Record: 254-238
All-Time Win Percentage: .516
Championships: 0
Analysis: John is very new, so he gets the benefit of the doubt.
However, it was insane that he didn't give Wilt a good enough offer to keep his core of Wilt and Larry after absolutely stealing Larry Jones in FA.
GM Grade: D+
Play – Bulls
All-Time Record: 2478-1704
All-Time Win Percentage: .592
Championships: 7
Analysis: I always talk about how Play is a step ahead of everyone and this research proves it.
Highest win percentage, most championships, he is the cream of the crop.
He rarely loses trades and always thinks ahead. Unless he's going to destroy another GM, he rarely makes impulsive trades.
GM Grade: A+
CC – Cavs, Warriors
All-Time Record: 1747-1707
All-Time Win Percentage: .506
Championships: 1
Analysis: CC is a good GM. Better than most. However, he could stand to be a bit more aggressive when it comes to trades.
CC rarely thinks a few moves ahead and always wants other GMs to overpay.
Sometimes you need to lose trades to win championships.
GM Grade: B
NYBombers3 (Andy) – Pistons
All-Time Record: 1792-2390
All-Time Win Percentage: .428
Championships: 1
Analysis: Andy has a very poor resume, but at least he has a championship under his belt (at first, I didn't think so, but this has since been corrected)
He's not as active as he used to be and is nowhere near as good.
I know that he has it in him to win another championship if he goes back to being the old Andy. The question is, can he?
GM Grade: D
Biggie – Hawks, Pacers
All-Time Record: 1108-1352
All-Time Win Percentage: .450
Championships: 0
Analysis: Biggie always makes one move too many or tries to acquire guys that are past their prime.
This is often because he is in his contract year, which happens all too often.
Biggie needs to learn how to build a team with a solid long-term outlook. That's what it will take to get him to the next level.
GM Grade: C-
Broph – Bucks
All-Time Record: 1894-1634
All-Time Win Percentage: .537
Championships: 3
Analysis: Broph might be the second best GM in the league behind Play.
He is incredible when it comes to analyzing notes and drafting the best prospects.
If I had to hire a scout, he'd be my top choice.
He also has three championships under his belt and that's because he stays the course when he knows it's the right thing to do and always tweaks on the fly to build the perfect team.
GM Grade: A
DJ – Raptors
All-Time Record: 2203-1979
All-Time Win Percentage: .527
Championships: 1
Analysis: Many consider him an awful GM, but his track record is among the best in the league.
Definitely a top-10 GM.
Could certainly stand to be a bit more active, but this is a pretty solid resume.
