Deep draft, especially a ridiculously deep sg class. So many no-note guys who have interesting ratings. It will be interesting to see how the last third of the first round plays out. Who will be this year's Chubin? Lots of talent at the top of the draft – Frazier, Daniels, carter and Rule can all contribute right away.
1. Washington Wizards- Walt Frazier PG 6'4'' 200 22 B C+ B A- C A
He is easily the best PG in this draft. As his notes say he can do it all - He can score inside and out. He can handle. He can pass. he can board. He can defend. And he has huge upside. Clyde!!!!!!
2. Indiana Pacers- Mel Daniels PF 6'9'' 220 23 C+ B D+ C B- A
The only player in contention for the #1 spot. He is touted as a monster shotblocker – maybe 3 a game as a rookie!! He is also the rare big that has an inside/outside game. Assumedly his post d is weak but he has plenty of upside.
3. Detroit Pistons- Bob Rule C 6'9'' 220 23 B C C B B A
Nothing jumps out at you from his ratings but he has good upside and no real flaws. Might need some rc/ac help but I see bunches of all star games in his future.
4. Charlotte Bobcats - George Carter SF 6'4'' 210 23 A- C C A C+ B
Coming in with A d is pretty rare. He is also a plus rebounder 2 stls and 2 blks a game is pretty sick also. The one knock is that he seems to have no 3 pt shot but hey you can't have everything.
5. Atlanta Hawks - Earl Monroe SG 6'3'' 185 22 B B C+ C C A
The Pearl is a very good scorer who, according to his notes, should be a #1 option at some point. His mediocre defense is a major drawback but guys that can score like the pearl don't come around every day.
6. Boston Celtics- Jimmy Walker SG 6'3'' 195 23 C+ A- C C D+ A
I look at him and think Don Ohl. You draft him for the scoring and grind your teeth watching him try to defend somebody. He is already a deadly shooter and has good upside. I think a big would be a much better fit but Jackson or trooper would be a reach here.
7. Washington Wizards (from New Orleans Hornets)- Louie Dampier PG 6'0'' 170 22 C+ B+ C+ C+ D A
A good rebuild always starts with a top pg. I think that he will be really good in time. He can score and is a good outside shooter. The knock on him is that he isn't a great passer and might have handling issues. Also not a great defender. I take him over Haskins based on having more upside.
8. Houston Rockets- Clem Haskins PG 6'3'' 195 24 B B+ C+ B- C- B
Clem is very similar to Dampier although he is slightly more polished and has less upside. Not a great defender but he should get tons of steals.
9. Los Angeles Clippers - Phil Jackson C 6'8'' 220 22 B C B- A- B- B
The zen master could start or at least get significant time in his rookie season.Very quick and a good ball handler. He should be a solid numbers defender and a decent defender.
10. New Orleans Hornets (from Golden State Warriors)- Trooper Washington C 6'7'' 215 23 B- D+ D+ A- A- C
He is a very good player right off the bat but is more or less maxed out as far as potential. Not a numbers defender, his forte is man to man. He is also a great rebounder. What you see is what you get.
11. OKC Thunder - Jimmy Jones PG 6'4'' 188 22 B B B- C C A
It is all about the potential. If he improves well he could be a star. If not, his rookie contract will be his last one. One question lingers above all – will he be able to control his tos .
12. Toronto Raptors - Arvesta Kelly PG 6'2'' 175 22 B C B- A C+ B
The Raptors have talent and youth at most positions. Kelly could be their pg of the future. He kind of reminds me of their present pg. Not a good scorer, he makes his money on the other side of the floor. He is a super quick top notch defender. He doesn't turn the ball over. Also a great rebounder.
13. Portland Trailblazers - Dale Schlueter C 6'10'' 225 21 B- C C- B+ B B
He is a numbers defender and should get blocks and steals. He is also a solid rebounder. Not much of a scorer but don't foul him because he doesn't miss much from the line.
14. Denver Nuggets - Pat Riley SG 6'4'' 205 22 B C C- A- C- A
15. Indiana Pacers (from Memphis Grizzlies) - Bob Netolicky C 6'9'' 220 25 B+ C+ C- B B C
16. Utah Jazz- Craig Raymond PF 6'11'' 235 22 B- C- D+ B+ B- B
17. Charlotte Bobcats (from Miami Heat) - Ronald Franz SF 6'7'' 205 22 B- C+ C- A- B- B
18. Dallas Mavericks - Sam Smith PF 6'7'' 230 23 B C- C B+ C+ B
19. Toronto Raptors (from NJ Nets) - Ron Perry SG 6'3'' 190 23 B B+ C- C+ C B
20. New Orleans Hornets (from Orlando Magic) - Darrell Hardy SF 6'7'' 220 23 B C- C- B- A- C
21. Chicago Bulls - Dexter Westbrook SF 6'8'' 190 24 C+ D+ C- C+ C+ A
22. Atlanta Hawks (from Minnesota Timberwolves) - Bobby Lewis SG 6'3'' 175 22 C B+ C+ A- C- C
23. New Orleans Hornets (from Philadelphia 76ers) - Bob Verga PG 6'1'' 190 22 B B- C+ C+ D+ B
24. Memphis Grizzlies (from SA Spurs) - Charles Beasley SG 6'5'' 190 22 C+ B+ C C+ C B
25. Indiana Pacers (from Cleveland Cavaliers) - Mike Riordan SG 6'4'' 200 22 C+ B+ C C+ C- B
26. LA Lakers - Carl Fuller C 6'9'' 225 21 C+ D+ D+ B B+ B
27. Boston Celtics (from Milwaukee Bucks) - Wesley Bialosuknia PG 6'2'' 185 22 C+ A- C+ C+ D+ C
28. Boston Celtics (from Phoenix Suns) - Jerry Pettway SG 6'3'' 185 23 C A C+ C D C
29. Washington Wizards (from NY Knicks) - Plummer Lott SG 6'5'' 210 21 C+ D+ C A+ C C
