In BBS, there are several superstitions that I subscribe to:
1) I never post a trade block until my team is eliminated from the playoffs
2) I'm never pushy when it comes to Spencer simming TC
3) I never make predictions about how my players will do in TC
Those are a few off the top of my head, but it got me thinking about if any other GMs have any superstitions or routines when it comes to sim leagues.
Here are some responses:
Martinez
- Never listen to Spencer's trade advice or Depth Chart advice
Insane
- I try not to comment in the playoff threads if I'm still in the playoffs. I don't post in the playoff DC threads if i sent a DC in or not
Skillz
I always look at everyone else's teams before mine during TC and look at my players stats before i open boxes.
Jordan
I always look ate the daily box scores a particular way. I start with the top left box, move to the right, then down, then left, then down, then right... Its hard to do this now when i check my box scores on my phone so I always make sure to check playoff boxes on a computer.
In the past, I never looked at my upcoming schedule unless I have short term injuries or I'm trying some crazy DC. I didn't like trying to set up an entire sim to see how we play in a potential playoff match. I've kind of gone away with this theory lately, but my team has been stuck with virtually the same lineup that can't adjust much for quite a few years so this hasn't really mattered.
Biggie
- Not camping a player until I see a sim with statistics (To avoid camping something that doesn't need camping)
- Not trading for Lotto picks before the Lotto (I feel that is bad luck for me)
Repole
If Gerald Green is in a league I have to trade for him before I do pretty much anything else
NOTE: Not a superstition, but a ridiculous answer that warrants being in this article.
Greeme
I don't like seeing division standings after sims just playoff standings
gmgreggor
I really don't like posting trades first
Habes
i always have to put on a good song when I'm checking sim. when my friends and i are checking sim together, we usually go in turns, and i never let them tell me a result. never look at standings instead of boxes. and i always check my team last in TC, although i broke that the last 2 or 3 seasons
svedda
Never post a trade block until my team is eliminated
Brophdogg
Never post a trade block until my team is eliminated (I broke that the first time I won a title so it's obviously irrational)
The following GMs say that they have no superstitions:
