1-Indiana Pacers
Dexter Rider PG 6'3'' 215 23 B B B A C+ B
With a young team and a lot of guys already rostered on the wings, the Pacers either go PG or big here, and there's not a ton of value towards the top of the draft with bigs. Dexter Rider is the pick here. Rider can play either guard position and should be able to handle the PG handling responsibilities with good TC luck and proper camp attention.
2-Boston Celtics
Lorenzo Carr SF 6'10'' 210 20 C+ C+ C+ B+ C+ A
Boston could really use a SF here who can play some defense alongside the super scoring Mitchell Jordan. Carr is a big time prospect that looks to have quite the game and should develop into a stud with good potential. Even if he only pans out somewhat average, his defense and rebounding at SF along with mediocre offense should complement what Boston already has very nicely.
3-Charlotte Bobcats
Alex Bellamy C 7'0'' 310 20 B- D+ D+ C+ B- A
Charlotte definitely needs a big man prospect, and Bellamy fits the bill perfectly. Bellamy is a super strong big man that can block shots and rebound. Look for Bellamy to provide Charlotte some much needed inside help. Charlotte could also go PG here with Purnell Jackson, but a strong big man would likely help them more in the long run.
4-Chicago Bulls
Jojo Okulaja SF 6'7'' 225 23 C+ C B+ A B B
How did this team end up with the #4 pick?!? Anyway, with a stacked lineup of Flint, Drummond, Paulson, Keane, McCracken, and Cook already, the Bulls can either take the BPA or a super sub glue player. J.J. Erving would be the likely pick if they went for the BPA (maybe insurance in case McCracken leaves in FA), but I think that Okulaja looks to be as good or better than what Julysses Hall is. Okulaja may not be the exciting pick, but he would fit in perfectly with this team.
5-Utah Jazz
J.J. Erving SG 6'6'' 220 20 B+ B- C C C+ A
Even though Utah may have McCleod locked in as the long-term SG, it's hard to pass up on a guy that Spencer seems to love so much. Erving looks like a terrific scorer and could likely be either disguised with his poor defense or improved enough through camps to be a solid starter. Other possibilities are small forwards Worthington or Irish.
6-Portland Trailblazers
J.T. Irish SF 6'6'' 200 22 C A- B- A- B- B
Portland's looking to win this year and needs a SF. Irish should fit in well with his solid perimeter defense, solid rebounding, good outside shooting, and decent handles for a SF. Worthington or Jackson may be better value picks here, but Irish will help this team now and should be a solid contributor from Day 1.
7-Washington Wizards
Hasim Al-Fatun C 6'11'' 200 19 C+ D+ D+ A- C+ A
Washington already has a solid core of perimeter shooters in Jay, Mack, Jackson, and Washington. With Gola looking like a good PF prospect, they can afford to take a long big man that blocks lots of shots. His development in rebounding will be extremely key to how valuable he can be, but this is a great fit for the Wizards and what they're doing with their team right now.
8-LA Clippers
Purnell Jackson PG 6'7'' 210 19 B C B C+ C A
With what's left on the board, this was a no-brainer pick. Jackson has the potential to be a game-changing PG at 6'7". His size at PG could completely dominate games. The Clippers would love it if Jackson would fall down to the 8th spot for them to grab.
9-Houston Rockets (via New Jersey Nets)
Wayne Worthington SF 6'9'' 205 19 A- C C C C+ A
Jordan's got to love picking here with all the talent on his team. Whether he keeps trying to contend or tries to move some of his veteran pieces for a rebuilding effort, he will be able to put this pick to excellent use. With the team he has, he can afford to take the BPA here. That would be Worthington. PF Brandon Watts could also be the pick here to give Jordan another big to add to his rotation inside.
10-Dallas Mavericks
Brandon Watts PF 6'8'' 234 22 B B C C+ B B
Dallas can go a lot of ways here. I could see them taking an intriguing multi-position propsect like Albert Smith, but I think they'll opt for Brandon Watts here. They could use some size inside, and Watts could also provide them some insurance in case Moore decides to leave during the following free agency.
11-Phoenix Suns
Albert Smith SF 6'10'' 222 19 B C+ C+ B- C B
Smith looks like a long SF prospect that has lots of versatility in his game. With Sinclair and Quincy on the roster, Smith could give them a solid SG-SF-PF to start the retooling effort with. Bradley Barker was also under consideration for this pick.
12-Orlando Magic (via Philadelphia 76ers)
Nolan Ellison SF 6'10'' 230 23 B+ B+ C B C C
Yeah, the Magic already have the supersub of all supersubs in Julysses Hall and don't really have many other needs. They might as well take one of the most BBS-ready players right now albeit a guy with little potential. Ellison should be able to score right out of the gates and also shouldn't be a liability on defense.
13-San Antonio Spurs
Josh Owens PF 6'9'' 222 21 B C+ D+ C+ B B
The Spurs could use another big for their rotation of bigs inside, and Owens seems to be well-rounded to give them solid minutes right away. There's a possibility that they could grab an outside shooting PG/SG like Barker or Cooper, but having a PF that can shoot the ball a little should help this team out more.
Dexter Rider PG 6'3'' 215 23 B B B A C+ B
