These are the ten best non-rookie contracts in BBS and is a follow up from my article on the ten worst contracts.
There weren't that many bad contracts in the league, let's see how many great contracts there are.
10) Darian McCutchan PG 25 6'2'' 206 C B+ A- A+ C C
$6,418,246 $7,001,723 $7,585,200
McCutchan is a lock-down defender and a good starter as a budget point guard who is still quite young.
The biggest issue with McCutchan is his turnover problem that could be corrected with some ACs/RCs and make him infinitely more valuable.
His ratings are solid and his rebounding skills are really good for a point guard.
There are a ton of point guards in the league and that may diminish his value, but he's on a very economical deal.
9) Dez Ford PF 25 6'11'' 280 B C D B+ B+ B
$6,809,931 $7,429,015 $8,048,100
Sure, Ford doesn't block shots well, but he's a high percentage scorer who will grab boards and do your dirty work.
For a league that lacks good big men, Ford's contract makes him very valuable, even though he may not have all of the tools that you'd want in a big man.
8) James McAdoo PF 28 6'8'' 226 A- C C B- B B
$3,089,077 $3,397,985 $3,706,892
McAdoo hates money, but he's a great backup big for that sort of money and can also backup at SF.
While he's hardly had an impressive career, he's the type of player that you love to have on your team, especially at that price.
7) Julysses Hall SF 26 6'7'' 224 C+ C B+ A B C
$4,662,428 $5,086,285
Hall sucks on the offensive side of things, but he's the perfect starter for any team at small forward or shooting guard.
He is good in both defensive categories, passes the ball well, barely turns it over and comes very cheaply.
Orlando has overvalued him for awhile.
6) Damontre Harris PF 29 6'10'' 218 B+ C- D+ A A- C
$9,300,633
Harris would be ranked much higher if he a) shot higher percentages and b) wasn't expiring after this season.
Harris puts up solid numbers as a non-option and blocks shots.
Like Dez Ford, he gets more love because he's a big and they're so few and far between right now.
5) Andre Hixon C 25 7'0'' 228 A- C- D+ B+ B B
$9,429,934 $10,287,200 $11,144,467 $12,001,734
Hixon is a great frontcourt compliment for Sean O'Mara... Oh wait.
That aside, Hixon is 25, shoots great percentages, swats shots and steals the ball.
He's also locked up long-term, which makes him even more valuable.
One of my biggest mistakes was giving up on Hixon early, he's been a real surprise.
4) Fab Melo C 29 7'0'' 274 B D+ D A- B+ C
$7,786,167 $8,564,784 $9,343,400 $10,122,017 $10,900,63
Melo re-signed cheaply once again. While as a #1 overall pick, you'd expect more from him, he's still a big man who does everything you'd hope.
He's a banger in the post, blocks shots, snags boards, doesn't turn it over and is now locked up long-term until he peaks at 33.
Melo will be a perfect acquisition for a competing team.
3) George Hall C 27 7'1'' 290 A- F D+ A- A- B
$10,065,000 $10,980,000 $11,895,000 $12,810,000 $13,725,000
Hall helped lead the Timberwolves to a championship this season.
While his scoring numbers were way down, his field goal percentage was solid. His blocking numbers are awesome and so are his rebounding numbers.
Obviously, the biggest knock on Hall is his free throw shooting, but he proved this season that he can be a key component on a championship team.
At age 31, his contract will expire and he'll only be making $13.7 mil.
2) Jarrett Jordan SF 23 6'8'' 229 C+ A C+ A- C+ A
$9,150,000 $10,065,000 $10,980,000 $11,895,000 $12,810,000 $13,725,000
While the Nuggets have the league's worst contract with Terrence Jones, they end up with two of the top-5 best contracts with Melo and Jordan.
Jordan does a little bit of everything and has proven more valuable than his brother Mitchell.
He blocks, he steals, he rebounds, he shoots awesome percentages. He may be the most well-rounded player in the league.
The Nuggets must be thrilled that the 23 year old signed with such an economically sound contract.
1) LaDaniel Graham PG 25 6'3'' 234 B+ B+ B- B C B
$5,199,622 $5,672,315
Finally, we have LaDaniel Graham rounding out this list.
Nobody talks about him and all he does is put up NUMBERS.
He's exceptionally cheap and can start at PG or SG.
It's too bad the Raptors rarely make trades and he'll continue to be an obscure player.
There weren't that many bad contracts in the league, let's see how many great contracts there are.
10) Darian McCutchan PG 25 6'2'' 206 C B+ A- A+ C C
