Aaron Haberman is one of the more polarizing GMs because he seemingly has an opinion on everything. While he is not as in your face as Pig or Martinez, Habes has a lot to say and we're giving him a platform to say it.
1) You have a great team on paper, but you finished sub-.500. What is your long-term plan with the Thunder?
We're what I think we should be. Smith played 17 games for us this year, and once he went down I knew we were going to struggle to make the playoffs. I also knew I wanted to keep Ray for his entire career, and I felt like I couldn't do that unless I found ways to retool without my picks. Durant and Josh are aging, and Durant's salary renders him pretty valueless. I thought I could pump point into Thompkins, keep competing until I had cap space, and then try to hit it big in FA. But we didn't look good to start the year, and Thompkins was playing so well that I thought I'd shop him.
I'm really excited about where that took me. Knight's an awesome piece, but he's only one guy, and he and Ray would make for an undersized backcourt. I could've waited to deal him in the offseason, especially since I think he'll have a good TC, but I wanted to make the playoffs and Pig was willing to move guys I really liked. I think Stevens has a chance to be the next Josh Smith. 2 BPG + 1 SPG in 28 minutes, with a promising outside game. McLeod looks like a solid starter at worst, and considering he just went number two overall, I gotta think he has room to develop. Lynch I love as a 4th or 5th starter -- plays lockdown D, can score inside and out, and has low turnovers. I think these are really solid young guys with good value, and I'm comfortable thinking with one good TC, I can put a contender around Ray. It'd be really nice to make the playoffs this year though.
2) In terms of the top-5 players in the league, where do you rank Ray McCallum?
#thisuserdoesnotexist. Get it? He's not top five. I think it's impressive enough that he's clearly the best PG in the league when PGs are so stacked, but since there are so many great PGs out there, I'd have to there are players who perform much more favorably against the average player at their position. Guys like Perry Jones, Sean O'Mara, Anthony Randolph, and Derrick Favors do things that pretty much nobody else out there can do, and while that doesn't make them better than Ray McCallum , it makes them comparably good and a lot more important when you consider the fact that guys like Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, Quentin Derrick, Derrick Rose, and Ricky Rubio (sure I'm forgetting someone) are close to as good as Ray. I think Ray's the one guy in that PG class who plays the best d, is the best passer/handler, and is the least flawed, and because of that I value him as much as pretty much any player, but I think he has to be knocked down a peg because the PG class is so stacked.
3) You have made McCallum available. What is the best offer that you've received for him and why did you turn it down?
I don't even remember if I got an offer I liked. The Hornets offer stands out, I guess, but that's not saying much. It was Lesser and Hall. Two very good players, but they have some legitimate weaknesses and I don't view either as the kind of piece I'd need back in exchange for Ray.
My ideal Ray deal would've been around young, high potential guys on their rookie deals so that I had more assets, could avoid rebuilding, and had guys I could put RCs and ACs in and hope they could develop into studs. Those are also the kinda guys whose value is really high, and nobody ever came at me with even a premise I liked. I'm not at all tempted to move Ray anymore, so I won't go off about things like Greg telling me he wouldn't move Rick Moore for Ray. LAWLZ.
4) You acquired Marvin McLeod this season. What do you expect from him?
Marv's a good young dude. I think of him sorta like the RL Harry Barnes, only with a totally different offensive game lolz. What I mean is that he's young, not a flashy piece but pretty developed and good at a lot of things. What I really like about him is the major inside game, because his midrange is elite, and I'd much rather bank on a guy's three point shot to develop over an inside game. A lot of young guys makes the jump from C+ outside all the way to B+ or A-. I know he at least has decent potential, so I like his chances to become an option scorer and perform pretty well for the duration of his rookie deal. That's important to me because Ray is in his prime right now, and I don't want to have to waste years waiting for other guys to develop. That's why I targeted guys like McLeod and Lynch; they already deserve major spots in my rotation.
5) Now let's get to the fun stuff... Who is the biggest prick in BBS and why?
Uh, DJ? LOLz been in sim leaguesn with him for like 6 real years now and he's just a dud. Everything is a reason why people are out to get him, he's never funny or nice or interested in the fun aspects of the league, and mostly just bitches and moans. The other week he was going on about how he has no luck and knew Spencer would steal some player from him. LOL damn he does not sound like a very fun guy. I dunno, I don't want to start shit but I'm just answering the question. He also always seems to think certain guys are out to get him or get preferential treatment. I mean...just yikes. Why even do this if everything is so rigged against you?
6) Which GM do you find is the most difficult to deal with when negotiating a trade?
Hmm. Well talking to DJ never goes anywhere. Aar overvalues the shit out of his players . I don't think I've ever gotten anywhere in trade talks with Lumley or JAH. Play literally never likes any of my players. When Dan wants talent he is miserable to trade with. He offends me with some his offers. Wonderful guy though. World class friend I remember one time he asked a girl we know on twitter to suck his dick. Actually he told her to.
7) If you could fire any GM right now, who would it be?
JAH. Why the fuck is he in BBS? To squander more good players? #roasted. JAH has posted like five times since March 31st. He's extremely inactive with his team and on the forum. IDK, maybe it'd be kinda weird without JAH in BBS but you don't deserve your spot just because you've been here. His activity smells and he can't build good teams.
8) What's going on in the life of Aaron Haberman right now?
#FUCKINGNOTHING. I got drunk and told this girl I work with that I like her and that's been pretty disastrous. LOLZ @ me. Way behind on my schoolwork #whitegirlproblems. BBS has been kinda slow . I mean I'm just not a very busy guy. This weekend we had wine and cheese like classy broads. My ex gf put up a profile picture that made me want to have sex with her so that was a pretty bad development. It's like I always say though.
The weather's pretty nice here. Holy shit am I boring. Hey did everyone here I'm going to Texas next year? Excited for that. All I do is listen to Kanye now, and I'm trying to get my best friend Mark Kelley to talk to me about him but he's not interested. The Mets are playing well, which is about the only good thing I have going right now, but it goes a long way. Oh! I'm on break in a week. Sorry you had to read any of this.
9) Why should people follow you on Twitter?
LOL BECAUSE I AM A FUCKING DISASTER. I bet a few girls from high school had no idea what they were getting into when they followed me, and now think I'm psychotic. Who knows. It's like watching a person lose their shit and then all their close friends go, Yikes, and everyone else just unfollows him. My sister loves my tweets though so I pretty much do it for her. I'm gonna go ahead and dig up some sample tweets:
We got that #cincypus trending. Power 105.1. Ladies #getthosepussieschecked

I'M NOT ENDORSING THIS. I'm just saying, this is what you get. I might be unstable or some shit.
10) Finally, if you could change one thing about BBS, what would it be?
I'd probably give myself better players. God bless.
1) You have a great team on paper, but you finished sub-.500. What is your long-term plan with the Thunder?
