College Career
Almost anyone that watches Sportscenter has a favorite Ben Rollins moment. His career at the Gonzaga has basically been one big highlight real. He averaged over 20 points per game both years he played there; including an NCAA leading 29.4ppg his Sophmore season. Rollins is one of the better finishers the NCAA has seen in a while. While he's not purely a dunker, he certainly has his share of Top 10 plays. He just has the unique ability to always finish once he gets to the hoop. He's a tremendously quick player who has a blazing fast first step. Most of points came within 10 to 15 feet, but he was also able to step back and hit a few 3's. He led Gonzaga to within 3 minutes of a Final Four berth before following out and watching his teams ten point lead evaporate from the bench. Rollins has certainly made a name for himself and absolutely cemented his place in college basketball lore with Gonzaga's recent tournament run. His final numbers for the tournament were 34.2ppg 6.5rpg 4.8apg. He is a scorer in the mold of Dwyane Wade.
Outlook in BBS
There is no doubt in peoples minds that Rollins will be a great player at the next level. He has no apparent weaknesses and should be a 20ppg scorer his first year in the league. He's not a great defensive player yet, but he has the ability to grown into at least an average one. While he is an unbelievable offensive player, he is average just about everywhere else. He is extremely focused on putting the ball into the hoop, and will never be much of a ballhawk defensively. He is smart with the ball but does not really set up opportunities for his teammates. Rollins has superstar potential, but it will depend on how hard he is willing to work in order to improve the non-offensive aspects of his game.
Where will he be drafted?
This question really depends on the other players in his class. It is unlikely that Rollins falls out of the top 3, and many consider him the number one prospect in his class. In the right situation Rollins could be one of the best players in the league. At 20 years old he still has plenty of room to grow and develop as a player. His ability to dominate his college opponents allowed him to rest of on his natural ability. His hunger to be the best will push him to become one of the best players in the league.
